How did you make your way into the acoustics industry?
I made a move from Washington State to Texas this past summer and I was looking for a change from my past working life. A friend in the industry told me about a possible opportunity at Autex Acoustics, so I did a deep dive looking at the brand. I was really impressed by the sustainability aspect combined with the potential for creativity. I ended up connecting with Antonio Holguin, and here I am now. It’s really exciting to be part of a fast growing company here in the States.
How long have you worked in Sales for?
I started selling skis when I was 15, so let’s just say it’s been quite a while.
What do you enjoy about Sales?
I really enjoy the connections you can make with all sorts of different people. Every day is different!
What did you study at University?
I studied Art History and English at University but started as a Chemistry major, go figure. After University I got my Associates Degree and graduated with Honors in Interior Design.
What is your favourite part of working for Autex Acoustics?
The people, and how dedicated everyone is to making it a really great place to be.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
I have a 12 year old son and we spend a lot of time just playing. On top of that I love to read just about anything I can get my hands on, but historical fiction is top of the list.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learnt in your career so far?
Relationships are key. Networking and having functioning relationships with your industry peers gives you a great platform to grow and learn. I’d also say that I’ve learnt follow-up is key. You’ve got to do what you say you are going to.
Where is your happy place??
Spending time with my family and dogs. I have one German Shepherd and one Pomsky.
Where is your ideal holiday?
I love to be at the beach regardless of the weather. Hot summer days or stormy winter evenings, I want to be there.
What Christmas/New Years traditions do you have?
I generally try to wait to start Christmas music until the day after Thanksgiving, but this year Antonio Holguin and I started early with Gwen Stefani’s Christmas album on our travels from Austin to Dallas. Outside of that I always set up the nativity scene my Mom painstakingly collected piece by piece over the years. On top of this I put together an advent calendar for my son, always have a Prime Rib Roast for Christmas Day, and champagne!
